Therapeutic gardens, which are accessible and adapted sources of pleasure and well-being, are designed and run to pursue specific objectives in terms of preventing, improving or maintaining the health [or some of its determinants (well-being, physical, social and psychological capacities, quality of life, etc.)] of their users.
They are therefore also designed to be used (as a place, support, medium, motivation, etc.) by professionals to carry out therapeutic activities, with varying degrees of involvement with nature (ecotherapy), gardening (horticulture therapy) and the outdoor therapeutic activities. ZEN LANDSCAPE worked with retirement homes to give residents some enjoyable, stimulating environment where to live. There are some very modest gardens that are proving to be very therapeutic while much larger gardens are...not so.
